The Role of the Spiritual Teacher in Yoga and Buddhism
Visiting teacher Claire Thompson offers a look at the relationship with a spiritual guide as found in the texts of the Yogic and Buddhist tradition and in her own experience. See how the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, and texts by Je Tsongkapa all point out the need for a Teacher, and then what to do once you’ve got one.
Through the kindness of her Lamas Lauren Benjamin and Venerable Sumati Marut, Claire has completed the 36 courses in Tibetan Buddhism offered by the Asian Classics Institute and received the 200-hour Classics of Yoga training through the Yoga Studies Institute. She travels with her partner Darin as a yoga, dharma and meditation teacher and kirtan singer.
